Bill Ellis has been researching aspects of the ecology and physiology
of Queensland's koa
las
from his base at The University of Queensland for over fifteen years. He
was recently appointed to a postdoctoral position at The Centre for Conservation
and Research for Endangered Species at the Zoological Society of San Diego,
where he works under
Prof.
Fred Bercovitch.
Bill graduated with a B. Sc. (Hons) from the Australian National University in
Canberra and also holds a Masters in Environmental Law from that institution. He
gained his Ph. D. in Zoology at The University of Queensland, researching stress
and immune responses in the koala.
Bill is also an Adjunct Fellow at the
Centre For Environmental Management at Central Queensland University in
Rockhampton. He teams up with Dr. Frank Carrick to run the Blair Athol koala
project (KoalaVenture) and with Dr.
Alistair Melzer to run the Earthwatch St Bees koala project.
